Abstract

The aim of the research is to study the points of defects and weaknesses that generated a structural deficit for the Iraqi economy. Therefore, we aim to analyze these influencing factors and shed light on how each factor affects, making it easier for fiscal policy makers to overcome that problem. The researchers used the data issued by the official financial and economic institutions in Iraq and reached a set of conclusions, the most important of which was that the Iraqi economy’s reliance on crude oil to finance its general budget and neglect of other productive sectors represents the most important axis in its accompaniment to the structural deficit of the general budget.
